The Rotherham Apprentice of the Year Awards 2025 showcased some of the brightest talent in the region. With over 150 nominations across four categories, the 10th anniversary of the awards organised by Rotherham Council’s RiDO and the Rotherham Advertiser, demonstrated the long and lasting success apprenticeships play in developing talent to help local businesses thrive.

The South Yorkshire Apprentice Hub sponsored event at the New York Stadium highlighted the increasingly varied work available in the borough and the fact that youngsters don’t need to move away to obtain good jobs and undertake careers in their chosen fields.

Speaking at the event the Apprenticeship Hub’s Keith Richardson said “Apprenticeships unlock potential in young people; they give them the opportunity to grow their knowledge and skills in unison. Given the right environment we see many young people flourish and quickly become young professionals whose positive impact in the workplace is clear to see.”

He continued “We should take time to recognise the foresight and commitment of those businesses who nominated their stars for these awards. Investing in future talent isn’t always easy especially for small businesses, yet those that do reap the rewards, getting young loyal employees who want to repay their employers for the investment they have made in them.”

RMBC’s new Chief Executive, John Edwards and Councillor John Williams supported the event presenting  the awards to the winners:
